In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops, in their continued acts of state terrorism, martyred 34 innocent people including a young boy in the last month of October.
According to the data compiled by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service, of those martyred one civilian was killed in custody. These killings rendered 2 women widowed and 10 children orphaned.
During the month, 324 people were critically injured when Indian police and troops used brute force, fired bullets and teargas shells against peaceful demonstrators in the occupied territory while 181 civilians, mostly youth, were arrested. The troops disgraced 18 women and destroyed 7 residential houses during the month.
The troops also martyred four more innocent Kashmiri youth at Zachaldara in Handwara area of Kupwara and in Qaimoh area of Kulgam district today, during siege and search operations, which continued till last reports came in.
On the other hand, complete shutdown was observed across the occupied territory for the third successive day, today, call for which was given by veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, as part of the ongoing Quit Kashmir Campaign. The occupation authorities kept curfew in force in Sopore, Delina, Palhalan and Bandipora towns to prevent people from holding anti-India demonstrations.
Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar strongly denounced the continued illegal detention of Hurriyet leader, Masarrat Aalam Butt at the infamous Cargo Camp of Special Operations Group of Indian police. He said that the authorities were violating the law while dealing with the illegally detained Hurriyet leaders and activists.
