Mourning Over a Knightess: a Muslimah

Mourning Over a Knightess: a Muslimah

“Sometimes words cannot describe, due to the weakness of the describer,
Sometimes words cannot describe, due to the greatness of the described”

By Brother Louis ‘Atiyyatullāh

How shameful life becomes, when your lips cannot utter any words, and your pen is dried, and your light is extinguished…

How shameful life becomes, when you see and hear a Muslim woman wearing the Hijāb, in the midst of one of the capitols of kufr and tyranny, Moscow, saying that she would have died without any value anyways in her own land– so it wouldn’t be of any harm, then, to die and take the lives of hundreds of kuffār along with her… in their own country, in the midst of their strength and pride… You see that scene, and you cannot find any refuge, except in silence… bowing your head lowly, weeping over your manhood, which was looted from you by the regimes of hypocrisy, and the scholars of hypocrisy…

I was looking at those scenes, and I was captivated by the beauty of this Muslim woman… so silence… and silence, in the sanctity of beauty, is beautiful…

But this is a different type of beauty… it is the beauty of Īmān, which flowered in her heart, such that she sought martyrdom in the Path of Allāh…

The beauty of purity, and the purity of beauty… a beauty which does not remind you of lowly things, nor does it have negative effects upon you; but a beauty, which raises you high, till the stars high above…

A beauty, which reminds you of the meeting with Allāh, in the noblest of places, that of Jihād in the Path of Allāh…

I witnessed five of these beautiful Muslimāt, wearing black… speaking to the Ummah, the speech of courage and manhood, the speech of death…

I watched, and I said to myself:

Say to Malīhah, the one in the black veil,
What you have done to us, deafens even the devout.

But it is not as the original poet meant about what “Malīhah” – Mujāhidah - has done to us… (here) it is what type of a dilemma she has placed us in, when she has thrown the most difficult test for manhood in this era…

I was captivated by those young women who were speaking with the ‘Izzah (pride) of Īmān… and the loftiness of the Muslimah… And I was not able to do anything, except keep silent – Woe to me lest I would speak! How could I speak, when she knew of the depths of humility which I live in, along with thousands of others of those regarding whom it is written on their certificates – “male”… indeed, what a true description that is, for we are not “men”, we are merely “males”…

I called my small sister to witness these scenes, and she shrieked when she saw them, and she said, “These are us”… she was not able to see any difference between them and herself… she felt herself as one of them… she said it involuntarily, “These are us”… then she remained, listening and I was keeping watch of her, and saw in her eyes a tear drop… then it became tears, then she left for she could not bare to witness these scenes… And do not ask what happened to me after that… my eyes could not attempt to watch, while it was my eyes which were humiliating me, and it would expose what I was feeling at that moment, of contempt against myself and all those males around me…

I was praying from my heart to Allāh, that they detonate the explosives which they were wearing… the most hated to me, would be that I see a wretched kāfir lift the Niqāb by which she hid the light of her face … May Allāh be pleased with her, and the Mujāhidāt which were with her… or that an impure infidel, the most despicable creature, touch her pure body after her martyrdom…

And the cowardly kāfir was disgraced, it did not dare lift the Niqāb from your face, except after your martyrdom – As for during your life: Then how could a vile hyena come close to the knightess, the Muslimah?

Indeed you gave an oath to Allāh, upon firmness and patience, and to kill and fight… And you endured patiently, till you fulfilled your covenant, and you were firm upon the path on which the most mighty men shake, on which falls to pieces the hearts of the most valiant cavalry… like that you were killed, in patience, and inspiring… what an excellent martyr you are!

Nothing can ever harm you after having attained martyrdom… as was said by your grandmother in courage and bravery… Asmā’ bint Abī Bakr (may Allāh be pleased with them): “Indeed the sheep is not hurt when it is being skinned, after it has been slaughtered”

If you had stayed behind with us, you would have put us in humility… when we were not with you at that crucial time, and we did not die as you died, but we were in comfort to bid farewell to you in the protection of Allāh, Whose protection is never down… Indeed you were in your life, an example of dignity and honour… and in your death, you were the example of fearlessness and audacity…

May the salutations of Allāh be upon you, for indeed you watched over your husband in his life… and after his martyrdom, you proved that you would travel to him through martyrdom, and watch over him once again… I ask Allāh, that He bestows upon you and your sisters, the Highest Degrees in Paradise, and that He unites you with your husbands under His Mercy…

From that which sorrowed me, is that I do not know any of their names, otherwise, I would compel myself to compose a poem for each one of them…

Forgive us, O beautiful Muslimah- no sin is upon you… Indeed you called upon Mu’tasim (the Khalīfah) for many years, but you did not find any Mu’tasim… rather, you found a multitude of debased cowards, who asked you, “Do you wear the Hijāb? Did you leave along with a Mahram?”

Forgive us dear sister… Indeed you called upon Mu’tasim, yet you did not find anyone, other than a mass of “hermaphrodites” who sold their land, integrity, honour, and then got drunk at Caesar’s house, and danced upon your chastity and honour… Forgive us, Wallāhi, Yā Muslimah

We are the ones to be blamed, for we are the ones who placed those effeminate ones as “Defense Ministers”, and rulers and kings over us… and the outcome was what is was…

“And whoever plants a thorn,
He will not reap anything other than bitterness and sorrow.”

Blessed be you, O young women of Shīshān! Verily, you have returned admiration and awe for the Muslim woman, after the vile secularists tarnished her name into a cheap image…

Blessed be you, but you taught us a great lesson regarding manhood…

Indeed, one day we were dignified by the Mujāhidīn, and by Abū ‘Abdillāh (Usāmah ibn Lādin)… and today the time has come for your pride, for what you carried out, was never before heard by history… nor can anyone do that, other than a Muslimah…

And no matter what we write regarding you, we can never do true justice to you… Rather, by Allāh, you have thrown a piercing arrow into our hearts, which silenced us, and exposed our own reality in front of us…

“The arrow was accurate, and it silenced, when it shot,
My heart, and struck the beast.”

And despite all which occurred, and despite the pain which grasped me, while I watched the pictures of my sisters and they were on the chairs of the theatre, martyred… despite that, it was pride that I felt afterwards, and it overpowered all the anguish…

The feelings I felt were mixed… at a moment, I am watching you, and my two eyes are drowning in tears, and then at a moment, I smile happily and in pride… and then I watch, and again the tears come…

Pride, that my sister in my home, learned a lesson – That she will never have to return to the need to call for the assistance of a Mu’tasim, nor of an effeminate defense minister, and she will rely upon Allāh, and she will defend herself, while the real men decrease day by day, there is no harm that the young Mujāhidāt solve problems themselves…

How can this not be, when the Path has been traversed by Chechen knightesses, Mujāhidāt, Muslimāt, and they have seen how they solve their problems when it becomes difficult, and they have understood how death is upon the methodology of Islām…

Indeed, if the Muslimah is to die at the hand of a kāfir after having her virtue ravaged, then why should she not go by herself towards death, before she is touched by that kāfir, so that a crowd of the infidels can die along with her… let this be the new way of death and dignity for the Muslimāt…

Forgive me, O my sister, you spoke, and you gave us a few words at the beginning of your operation, regarding my abandoning of you… Forgive me, for it is difficult for me to even write this, and forgive me that I was not able to set forth and assist you and those Mujāhidāt who were with you… What you did to me, and the distress of that which you left me with, has disabled me, and disabled my pen, and has put me in shame, and thus was born this letter, in the most anguishing manner possible…

Indeed, the hours in which I spent writing this for you, I repeatedly prayed that Allāh accepts you all, and raises your status in the Gardens, and that Allāh bestows upon me a day, in which I will stand upon your graves, and send salutations upon you, and pray for you, and to request from Allāh that he lets me follow you (in martyrdom)… then I will attempt to protect whatever remains of that which is called “manhood”… and then I will step aside from your graves, then I will weep…

Yes, I will weep over you O my sister, and I will take pride in my weeping over you, for verily, your likes are to be cried over, by Allāh, for your likes heads are lowered due to embarrassment and shyness, from what you sisters took upon yourselves, and carried out in that sublime spectacle, as you did…

Pardon me, O my sister, for I was not capable of continuing, due to the tears covering my sight from my eye- and the immense splendour which you carried out, destroyed any purpose for me to write… perhaps, other than to just mention and remember you, and weep over you… in suffering, from your departure, and the departure of all those sisters who were with you… and the Mujāhidīn… who were killed along with you…
I will cry over you, because the sun will rise in the days to come, but your radiance will never be upon the land again, as it was… and the sun will mourn… and I will cry…

I will cry over you, because the evening star will ask regarding you, but it will never see you glowing over the land, as you did in your life… and the evening star will mourn… and I will cry…

As for the moon? Then you were the moon… the false moon which we see in the sky will mourn by your departure… and I will cry…

The place you prayed Salāt will mourn… and your prayer rug… and those winter nights in which you stood praying…

And the Niqāb will mourn, with the Hijāb… and the entire world will mourn… and I will cry…

Heavy fightings take place in Chechen mountains and Dagestani capital

Occupation sources and representatives of the Mujahideen command report heavy battles taking place in the mountains of Chechnya.

During a telephone talk with an assistant of Emir Abdul-Malik, whose unit operates in Vedeno district, he reported that large forces of Russian invaders and puppets have been concentrated Vedeno district already two weeks ago.

Almost for a week, occupiers and puppets have been shelling forests using artillery, mortars and aircraft (mainly, helicopters). And last Tuesday, large enemy forces advanced into the forests of Vedeno district.

Sources in the command of the Mujahideen confirmed information about violent clashes in Vedeno district that took place on Thursday and Friday. Mujahideen did not report figures for casualties.

Meanwhile, occupiers reported 3 their soldiers killed and several members of the "special forces of the interior ministry" gang wounded on Friday night.

In his turn, the ringleader of Chechen puppets Kadyrov announced a major military operation taking place in several areas of Nokhchicho (AKA Chechnya/Ichkeria) province - from the district of Nozhai-Yurt up to Achkhoi-Martan.

Local sources reported that a large number of troops and military equipment were sent to the mountains. Aviation is being actively used.

Meanwhile, fierce firefights are taking place also in Dagestan. Just on the eve, occupiers reported the martyrdom of five Mujahideen in Dagestan's Kirovaul district and several explosions in the capital of Shamilkala (former Makhachkala).

A fierce battle again broke out in Shamilkala on Friday night. The invaders said they had blocked a group of Mujahideen in a private house in the city. The reports of the invaders' media outlets say that 3 Russian "commandos" and 2 Mujahideen have been killed during the battle.

Later, invaders said 2 gangsters of the "Russian interior ministry special forces" were killed.

Then it was reported that the outer ring of the cordon had been attacked by a martyr. As a result of the explosion, the puppets reported their losses. Puppet sources said that only 6 policemen had been wounded. However, according to other data, one of the blocking groups was completely destroyed in the martyr's attack.

2 hours before the martyr attack, a police UAZ jeep and a watching unit's bus were blown up on a mine in Shamilkala. The invaders and puppets did not report their losses.

We would like to draw attention to the fact that reports of invaders and puppets are scarce and contradictory.

Meanwhile, according to KC sources in Shamilkala, at least 7 bombings occurred in different parts of the city since Friday evening. Patrol units and police cars were bombed.

A KC source confirmed information of the martyr attack on the blocking group in the zone of hostilities in Shamilkala. According to radio intercepts, many policemen were killed or wounded as a result of the attack.

Fightings in Shamilkala go on.

Moscow transfers more and more troops to Caucasus Emirate

In recent days residents of the occupied Caucasus Emirate observe unusually high activity of Russian troops. Additional units and sub-units, including armored and artillery, are being transferred to the provinces of Dagestan, Nokhchicho (AKA Ichkeria/Chechnya) Ghalghaycho (AKA Ingushetia), combinded province of Kabarda, Balkaria and Karachai.
Concentration of troops are observed in districts of Buro (AKA Vladikavkaz), Mozdok, Kizlyar, Khasavyurt. Flights of transport helicopters to Khankala (Russian main base in Chechnya), airport of Sheikh Mansur (which the invader call the "North"), where the second largest military base of Russians in Chechnya is located, are became frequent.
Russian media report no information on what is happening. The only leak was in the media outlets of St. Petersburg. "Soldiers' Mothers" have raised concern about the fact that the recruits, in particular, from mortar units, are suddenly transferred to Dagestan under the pretext of preparation for the Sochi Olympics".
As coordinator of organization working with the military, Svetlana Utkina, told the "Echo of Petersburg" radio station, appeal from the unit of 3526 began to come from the parents of servicemen for about two weeks ago. Parents said their sons are forced to sign some contract.
"Now the guys are sent to northern Dagestan, thus the command of the unit says that these exercises are done in preparation for the organization of security for the Olympics in 2014.
That's where absolutely nothing is clear. I.e. Olympics will be 3 years later (Sochi is hundreds kilometers far), and the guys whose service ends in few months, go there now.
Cell phones, sim cards are taken away from the guys, there will be no communication with them. The purpose of these exercises is incomprehensible", Utkina says.
According to the "Soldiers' Mothers", the transfer of troops to the North Caucasus is related to the possible development of a new war with Georgia.
Ella Polyakova, chairman of the Soldiers' Mothers in St. Petersburg, tell her opinion to Petersburg's radio station:
"The scenario is very similar to the one we saw before the war with Chechnya. The same deception, the same blackmail. Soldiers were deprived of the right to information, communication with the family. And exactly the same situation was before the five-day long war with Georgia. I very much fear that there may be preparation done now for an attack on Georgia from Dagestan".
Meanwhile, other versions of what happened are discussed. According to one of them, Moscow is preparing a total offensive against the Mujahideen in order to finally finish off the Mujahideen of the Caucasus Emirate in this winter.
The fact is that Moscow is seriously alarmed by the intensification of combat actions in the North Caucasus, the growth of Jihad, an increase of the number of young people leaving for the forest (the situation is particularly revealing in Dagestan), which is extremely dangerous for the Kremlin, especially now, when Russia entered a period of power instability and deep economic and food crisis.
At the same time rumors are spread among the local Russian Cossacks saying that Moscow wants to deport Chechens to Siberia and other regions of Russia to put an end once and for all with the resistance in the Caucasus.
At the same time rumors spread that in Chechnya, Ingushetia and Dagestan, where the share of Russian population has declined sharply over the past 20 years, will be forced to settle by the Russian colonists, (both new and from among those who previously lived here). The rumors are fueled by official reports in the Russian media that the Russian government adopted a plan of settlement of Caucasians in Russia and migration of Russians to the Caucasus.
Currently there are no clear reasons for the sharp increase in the size and armament of Russian troops in the occupied territories of the Caucasus Emirate.

Al-Qaeda claims French kidnappings

Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) has claimed the abduction of five French nationals in Niger and said  that it will make demands to France regarding them.

"In announcing our claim for this operation, we inform the French government that the mujahedeen will later transmit their legitimate demands," a voice claiming to be AQIM spokesman Salah Abi Mohammed said in an audio message released on Tuesday.

"We also warn [the French government] against any sort of stupidity," he added, in reference to a possible military operation, as French military planes patrolled the desert on Tuesday in an effort to locate the seven.
The statement also said Algerian Abdelhamid Abou Zeid led the kidnap operation.

"Following the promise of our emir, Abou Moussab [Algerian Abdelmalek Droukdel], a group of heroic mujahedeen last Wednesday, under the command of Sheikh Abou Zeid, succeeded in penetrating the French mining site at Arlit in Niger," Mohammed said.

No comment from Paris

France's Foreign Ministry said it could not immediately comment on the purported claim by AQIM, which has been active in the Sahara and the arid Sahel region and has been increasingly targeting French interests.
The claim came hours after Niger's government spokesman, Mahamane Laouali Dan Dah, said the hostages -- also including a citizen of Togo and another from Madagascar -- were still alive. He didn't say what that information was based on.

The audio message did not mention the two African hostages.

All seven, who worked at a huge uranium mine in northern Niger run by French state-owned nuclear power giant Areva, were abducted by armed men on Thursday.

France and Niger have said they suspected AQIM in the kidnappings in Niger, a former French colony in northwest Africa.

Slaughter whoever insults the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam)

I have recieved several insulting comments in reply to the post "Woman behind "Everybody Draw Muhammad Day" forced to go into hiding". If a person disagree with what is written on this blog then indeed we encourage them to come forth with their reasons and we will publish these and reply to them. We will not however publish anything insulting or anything which insults Islam. If a person claims to be Muslim then it is upon him to bring proof for what he says rather than acting like a kaffir and name calling or speaking from his desires.

Theo Van Gogh who attacked Islam and suffered the consequences

What is clear from the comments of such people is that they are completely ignorant of the Islamic ruling on those who insult the Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wasallam, as is it clear that they can not really love the Prophet if they are defending the filthy dogs who insult him. These people clearly have corrupted hearts.

It is wajib to kill anyone who insults the Nabi sallallahu alaihi wasallam and so this is what we as Muslims must call for. The evidences for this are many, however we will publish just one as an example of what he, sallallahu alaihi wasallam, himself believed on this issue and that is an authentic hadith from Sahih Bukhari about the assassination of the taghut Ka'b ibn al-Ashraf:

Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah: Allah's Apostle said, "Who would kill Ka'b bin Al-Ashraf as he has harmed Allah and His Apostle ?" Muhammad bin Maslama (got up and) said, "I will kill him." So, Muhammad bin Maslama went to Ka'b and said, "I want a loan of one or two Wasqs of food grains." Ka'b said, "Mortgage your women to me." Muhammad bin Maslama said, "How can we mortgage our women, and you are the most handsome among the Arabs?" He said, "Then mortgage your sons to me." Muhammad said, "How can we mortgage our sons, as the people will abuse them for being mortgaged for one or two Wasqs of food grains? It is shameful for us. But we will mortgage our arms to you." So, Muhammad bin Maslama promised him that he would come to him next time. They (Muhammad bin Maslama and his companions) came to him as promised and murdered him. Then they went to the Prophet and told him about it.
So the issue should be clear to those Muslims with an open heart who base their religion upon the Quran and Sunnah rather than their own desires.

Finally we ask Allah that he continues to create men like Muhammad Ibn Maslama who will strike terror into the hearts of the kuffar and those who dare to insult the greatest of all men.

Statement of Islamic Emirate concerning the American led Elections that took place

Shawwal 09, 1431 A.H, Sunday, September 19, 2010 In the name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful With the help of Almighty Allah and the Mujahid Afghan people, Mujahideen of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan were able to extinguish another plan of the enemy by disrupting the rigged and fraudulent American led election process on 27/06/1389 H.S. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan congratulates the Mujahid Afghan people and especially the Mujahideen for their success and in doing so would like to point to the following:

 1. Majority of the brave and honorable people of Afghanistan affirmed in the positive to the request of Islamic Emirate and rejected the fraudulent American led election process by not participating in it and sent a clear message to the puppet regime that they rebuff the outcome also.

 2. Throughout the country 162 districts never actually had any polling stations opened, 1260 polling stations closed before 11:00 am and another 480 polling stations came under Mujahideen attacks. Voting only took place in the city centers of Kabul, Mazar, Herat and a few other isolated places and the only people that voted were the officials of this puppet government. In light of these facts we can safely say that this election was not of the people but of the puppet government officials and hence is not legal.

 3. The people of Afghanistan did not participate in these elections and by doing so proved to the invaders and their puppets their disapproval of this fake and rigged process. Therefore the invading forces should listen to the Afghan people, take a lesson from their failure and withdraw their forces completely from our beloved land so to put an end to the illegal occupation.

 4. The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan calls to the world that the invaders and their puppets don’t have any control over vast regions of the country, neither can they carry out free and fair elections and therefore should voice their disapproval and rejection of these so called elections and to not recognize the members of parliament as the representatives of the people of this country.

Military convoy of Rakhmonov regime routed in Tajikistan

A military convoy of the Dushanbe regime troops has been virtually routed in Rasht district of Tajikistan.

According to available data, more than 20 soldiers were killed in the attack. However, this figure may be higher. Dozens of soldiers were wounded and military vehicles burned out.

"Right now we can speak about 20 dead, but these figures are not final", said a source in Tajik law enforcement agencies, stating that the ambush was carried out in a remote mountain gorge of Komarob.

Meanwhile, some agencies reported that two battles had occurred in Rasht region, and the number of killed soldiers refers to only one of them.

According a Russian news agency, Interfax, citing Tajik security officials, the convoy headed to the city of Rasht and was attacked in Komarob Gorge, located approximately one hundred kilometers from the capital Dushanbe.

A search operation for prisoners who escaped from a prison of a "state national security committee" at night of August 23 is being conducted in Rasht district. A total of 25 people escaped, killing several prison guards.

Authorities allege that Tajik troops clashed several times during so-called "search operations".

According to some reports, the attacks in Rasht district may have been executed by Mujahideen from the Mullah Abdullah's unit. It is reported that Emir Abdullah (Abdullah Rakhimov) returned to Tajikistan in summer 2009 and started organizing Mujahideen groups in the country.

Meanwhile, helicopters with paratroopers are being sent to Komarob district. Currently, there is no precise information if Russian troops are taking part in the fightings.

Sheikh Abu Muhammad Al Maqdisi arrested

Sheikh Abu Muhammad Al Maqdisi
It has been confirmed by The Minbar of Tawheed and Jihad that our beloved Sheikh Abu Muhammad Al Maqdisi has been arrested by the Jordanian apostates.

The following is from his website:

The Sheikh was taken into custody on Friday and no one has had any contact with him since.

All brothers and sisters should keep him in their dua and ask Allah to hasten his release.

Jihad does not depend on an individual or individuals

A brother suggested that I publish the following article which is from the transcript of Sheikh Anwar Al Awlakis lecture series "Constants on the path of Jihad" in which he explains the book by the same name which was written by our martyred Sheikh Yusuf Al Uyayree who was martyred by the apostates on the Arabian Peninsula.

This particular section of the lecture is called "Jihad does not depend on an individual or individuals" and it is extremely important as there are many who are spreading false concepts which are not in the Quran and Sunnah and have not been spoken about by the ulaama such as the lie that "There is no jihad without a khalifah". This is something which was promoted by Zakir Naik in his recent  visit to the Maldives along with other distortions of Jihad (a short refutation can by viewed on "Islam Maldives") and it is also something which is propagated by the so called Salafis, who are in fact the Murjiah of today.

But as the article below shows the issue is clear and no one should be in any doubt that defensive Jihad does not require an Imam.

Sheikh Anwar Al Awlaki

Jihad does not depend on an individual or individuals
Jihad will carry on regardless of the leader or a particular person. Some people say that the religion of Allah does not depend on certain individuals, and if the slaves of Allah die in the cause of Allah, Allah will continue to bring other believers in order to further continue the cause of Islam. This is correct, however, we see that for most of the people who say this treat this as lip service. In other words, they firmly believe Jihad Fe Sabeelillah depends on certain individuals or groups through their actions. We will prove that Jihad does not depend on a particular leadership nor does it depend on particular individuals:

First proof

1. If we believe that Jihad depends on individuals, then this leads to the weakening of the ‘Aqeeda on Jihad because it’s an incorrect ‘Aqeeda. And it will alter the idea that Jihad will continue until the Day of Judgment since we are associating Jihad with certain individuals and imply in our speech that if so and so dies, Jihad will stop. In addition, Ibn Qudaamah states that: “The absence of the Imam should not be a reason for the delay of Jihad.”

Second proof

2. Allah has brought up the Sahaba to only depend on Him alone and to be attached to His religion. The Prophet (sallallahu ‘alayhe wassallam) showed them that depending on a particular individual is the wrong way because if that particular individual dies then Jihad is over. In addition, Allah even revealed the ayah to not depend on Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alayhe wassallam): “Muhammad is no more than a messenger; many were the messenger that passed away before him. If he died or was slain, will you then turn back on your heels? If any did turn back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to Allah, but Allah (on the other hand) will swiftly reward those who (serve Him) with gratitude.”

This ayah was revealed to teach the Sahaba that no ‘Ibadah is to be depended on a particular individual. Islam belongs to Allah and not anyone else; so have tawakkul on Allah and not Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alayhe wassallam) or any other person.

Imam Ibn Kathir says that this ayah was revealed in the battle of Uhud when a Qurayshi struck the Prophet (sallallahu ‘alayhe wassallam) with a rock and thought he killed him. He went back to his people and told them just that. This rumor spread around and reached the Muslims that Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alayhe wassallam) was killed. That led to the despair of some Muslims. That’s when Allah revealed this ayah saying that Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alayhe wassallam) is no more than a messenger and that other messengers have came before him. Now if he is killed, does that mean you will retreat and leave your religion? Are you dependent on him or on Allah? This ayah was criticizing some of the actions of the Sahaba. Some Muslims were affected by this news and some were not. One Sahabi from the Ansar said, “Even if he is killed, he has already conveyed his message. So fight for it and die as he died!” This Sahabi was strengthened by this rumor instead of broken by it. For those who turned their backs, they are only harming themselves.

When Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alayhe wassallam) had already died, Abu Bakr went to the house of Rasoolullah, into the room of ‘Aisha and he kissed Rasoolullah on the forehead and said, “You are pure when you are alive and dead. Allah will not make you die twice.” Then he went to the masjid where ‘Umar was talking to the people. ‘Umar didn’t want to hear that the Prophet (sallallahu ‘alayhe wassallam) is dead. He went around telling people, “Whoever says that Muhammad is dead, I will chop off his head. Muhammad went to meet Allah just as when Musa went to meet Allah; so he will be back.” Abu Bakr stopped ‘Umar from speaking and said, “Oh people! Whoever used to worship Muhammad then let him know that Muhammad is dead. And whoever used to worship Allah, let him know that Allah is alive and will never die!” Then he recited this ayah. Everyone already knew this ayah, but when they heard it from
Abu Bakr it was as if they heard it for the first time since they were in an emotional state and forgot everything. Then everyone started reciting this ayah repeatedly after they heard Abu Bakr recite it. Everyone will die at an appointed time; that was the lesson.

Allah says, “No soul can die except by Allah's leave, the term being fixed as by writing.”27

Allah says, “Nor is a man long-lived granted length of days, nor is a part cut off from his life, but is in a Decree (ordained). All this is easy to Allah.”

For these two ayaat, the author says that they will make the cowards become courageous and lay down their lives and fight for Allah’s cause. Because courage does not decrease your life and cowardice does not increase it. No matter how courageous you are, that is not going to decrease your life. And no matter how much fear you have, that is not going to increase your life. If a mo’min reaches the level of yaqeen where he realizes that his death is at an appointed time and nothing can stop it, he will be very courageous; he will fear nothing. He will see all the enemies of Allah as just mere creatures that are controlled by Allah. So why fear them?
Khalid bin al Waleed would be so courageous that he would throw himself into the army ranks and had said about himself, “I would throw myself in the ranks of the enemies until I would be certain that I would not come out alive. And here I am dying on my bed. So may the eyes of the cowards never see sleep!” He made du’a against the cowards implying how can you be a coward when courage did not kill him.

The author of Zaad bin Maseer says in his Tafseer that Ibn ‘Abbas said, “Shaytan screamed out on the Day of Uhud that Muhammad is killed. So some of the Muslims said that if Muhammad is killed, let’s surrender. These are our tribes and relatives. And if Muhammad was alive, we wouldn’t have lost.” They were trying to find an excuse to not fight. Abdul Haaq said, “Some of the Munafiqeen said, ‘Muhammad has been killed so let’s go back to our former religion’.” Allah tests the people and the outcome of the tests are different. The result is based on how we respond to the test. Our life is full of tests. If we keep passing these tests, we become purer and purer and purer.

Ash Shaukaani mentions how Shaytan screamed on the Day of Uhud and some of the Muslims said, “If Muhammad is a Messenger, he wouldn’t be killed.” So Allah revealed this ayah. Some of the Ambiya of Allah can be killed by Allah’s leave.

Some Muslims said, “Let’s go to ‘Abdullah ibn Ubayy and ask him to negotiate our surrender to the Quraysh.” They went to him because they know he was on good relationships with the kuffar.

Anas bin Nadr from the Ansar said, “Even if Muhammad is killed, Allah is not killed, so let’s fight for the religion of Allah!” He saw some Muslims sitting down on the battlefield and inquired them as to what they are doing. They said, “Muhammad is killed. What should we do?” He told them, “If Muhammad is killed, then you should stand up and fight and be killed the way he was!” Some Muslims did that and were killed.

The right and wrong understanding

The ones who adopted the wrong concept can be broken up into two categories:

a. Those who failed because of the rumor of Muhammad’s (sallallahu ‘alayhe wassallam) death; they became weak and couldn’t avoid the shock. They wanted peace and tried to avoid death.

b. The ones who adopted the worse position were the ones who went back to kufr.

Jihad is not dependent on Rasoolullah (sallallahu ‘alayhe wassallam). The position of these two groups who adopted the false concept is the position of many Muslims today. We find many Muslims say that if the Taliban were on the right path, they wouldn’t have lost. Some said Islam is wrong because Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alayhe wassallam) died on the battlefield. We see the same thing happening today with Muslims saying that the Taliban are wrong because they lost in the battlefield. This is wrong to say. Some say that the Arab Mujahideen should go back to their lands and seek peace with their governments and join their hands. This is similar to the Muslims who went to ‘Abdullah bin Ubayy asking for their surrender to Quraysh. History repeats itself and every misguidance you find today, you’ll find people following the same misguidance of someone before him.

The people who follow the correct concept are like Anas bin Nadr who tell people, “Why are you sitting?” They said because Muhammad is killed. He said, “What are you going to live for? Stand up and fight like him!” They are also like Abu Bakr who said, “If you worshipped Muhammad, then know that Muhammad is dead. But if you worshipped Allah, then know that Allah is alive and will never die!” They are also like ‘Ali ibn abi Taalib who said, “If Muhammad is killed, I will fight for his religion.” These people follow the correct concept which is that Jihad is not dependent on any individual, even if that individual is Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alayhe wassallam).
